Itβs hard to imagine things getting better right now. As a New Year dawns the world is still gripped by the pandemic and anger and fear seem paramount. I try to find solace in writing but new challenges already abound!
We are back to homeschooling and by day 2, already fraught! Teaching a primary school-aged child is like trying to wrestle a cat into a jar. To exhaust matters further we made the ( completely insane? ) decision to get a much longed-for puppy. Gorgeous as he is , we may well have underestimated the amount of hard work a new puppy requires.
So, the writing is on the shelf – for now. VERY temporarily I hope . In the meantime Iβm celebrating TWO longlistings over Xmas. First, a short story for the Crossing the Tees competition and secondly a longlisting by Retreat West for my very first novella-in-flash! I shall keep you all posted with the results!
I also celebrated my birthday yesterday, a cold and foggy mist descended and the night drew in quickly but there was light! Sparkles glowing from the chocolate cake my girls had made , reminding me that despite everything there is lots to hope for and many daydreams to weave into stories! I blew out those candles and made my writerly wishes. Fingers crossed for a brighter year and that those tiny sparks ignite.
Happy New Year!! ππππππππ
